School update 4-8 May

Last week we taught the children the proper way to open and shut the cupboard, For the Practical life exercise this week the children were taught the proper way to open and shut the drawer. The children loved to open and shut cupboard and drawer doors, they were excited and attentive during the presentation and were eager to show their abilities to do the task. The little blue table in the classroom was used for the presentation, after mastering the skill to open and shut the drawer, some children began ‘hiding’ materials in the drawer. Now, we know where to look for missing materials!

We introduced the letter sound ‘v’ as in vegetables and violin. The children were given some vegetables and they were curious about the little plant given to them. Caden, Dexton, Dylan, Ryan and Markus used the plant to fan themselves and their peers. They also tried biting on the plant. They were using their sense of taste to explore the vegetables. The children were given a violin to play with too. Our little violinists were enthusiastic, and they played beautiful ‘music’ with the violin.

We introduced the shape diamond to the children. They mixed up the diamond shape with square. When shown the shape diamond, Natalie pointing to it and said “square”. After repeating the words several times, some of the children got it right.
