School update 11-15 May

We celebrated Mother’s Day last Friday. We would like to thank all the mothers, grandmothers and fathers who took time off to join us in this celebration.

Everyone had a wonderful evening interacting with each other

We introduced the concept of long and short. The children were shown the longest and shortest wooden red rod to compare. Caleb pointed at the shortest red rod and said; ‘one’. What amazed everyone was Caleb remembered the session when we used the Montessori material ‘the number rods’ to teach the concept of one unit, he actually recalled that the first number rod has the same size and colour of the red rods. Well done Caleb!

We introduced the colour orange to the children. They were given carrots, orange, and some materials that were orange in colour. While holding the carrot, the teacher asked the children, “What colour is this?” Many children insisted it is a carrot when told that the colour is orange. Ryan pointed to an orange and said, “No, orange.” He tried to tell the teacher that the carrot is not an orange.

The rest of the children were interested in the carrots, they took the carrot and started to bite into it, Caden looked at his brother and said, “Carrot, 好吃.” Markus also took a carrot, gave to Edric and said “Edric, orange carrot.”
