School update 18-22 May

We introduced the letter sound ‘g’ as in green, grapes, goat, girl and garden. The parents contributed grapes for this very interesting lesson. The children tried to use satay sticks to skewer the grapes. Some of them were able to perform the task independently although their finger co- ordinations were not well developed. Many thanks to the mother of Caden, Caleb, Markus, Wee Ren, Ryan, Natalie and Dylan for the yummy grapes. Your contributions and strong support have made learning meaningful for the children through home school partnerships.

We introduced the number rods 5 to the children. The children were asked to count number rod 5 and given the sandpaper numeral to trace at the same time.

After being with the children for about half a year, we noticed that they have progressed from being ‘good listeners’ to someone who is able to verbalise their needs and voice their displeasure in a ‘language’ that perhaps only the teacher who spends a lot of time with them could understand.

The biggest achievement is credited to Markus who has started communicating with teachers and peers clearly. Ryan and Dylan have started to chatter incessantly, if listened closely, we may be able to recognise a few ‘real words’.
