NurseryOne 8-12 Feb


Mathematics
Number rods 5 was presented to the children. The children were given the blue and red rod to count. Most of the children were able to follow the teacher while counting. The children were also shown the geometric solid sphere. They touch and feel what is a sphere like? They were able to echo after teacher.

Language
Letter sound ‘z’ as in zipper, zoo, zebra, zigzag and zero were shown to the children. The children related their experience to the zoo with their parents and classmate last year. When asked to name the animals they saw in the zoo. Natalie said, “baby elephant.”, Caden said, “tiger” and Markus said, “ lion”. Caleb, Amanda, Dexton and Wee Ren said they saw giraffe, monkey, polar bear, and horse.

Cultural
During the cultural activity time, the children were shown a picture of a zebra. Ryan told teacher, “zebra is a horse.” The teacher explained that Zebra may look like a horse bu it is not a horse. The other children were able to tell teacher that zebra eats grass and is black and white in colour. Well-done children.

Sensorial
In sensorial, Khaizuran, Dexton, Dylan, Markus and Joen were presented the pink tower, while Amelia, Mytri, Natalie, Wee Ren, Caleb and Tyrone were presented the colour box 1. Amanda and Mohin were presented the brown stair while Caden and Edric were shown the red rods. Last but not least, Ryan and Triston were introduced the knobbled cylinder.


This week the children were introduced to CITRUS FRUITS. The children learned to name some citrus fruits such as lemon, orange, lime, grapefruit, pomelo, etc. The children were happy to squeeze the orange juice and taste it.

We celebrated Chinese New Year today. The children sang CNY songs with Xu Lao Shi. They listened to myths and legends about the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals and also explained some of the meanings behind each goodies we eat during Chinese New Year. The children played games like treasure hunt , they hunted for the golden chocolate hidden in the classroom. Most of the children were able to find the hidden chocolates.


Last but not least, the children watched lion dance performance by the K1 and K2 children and some of them also tried to perform for their peers. We would like to thanks parents who brought the goodies for the celebration. The staff wish you and your family a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
