NurseryOne 1-5 Feb

Hello! I’m your new friend in N1! My name is Tristan.

Mathematics:
The children were taught number rods 4 and the colour blue. We played the ‘treasure hunt’ game. The children looked for blue objects in the classroom. The were very excited when asked to go round the classroom to look for objects. Within minutes, Dexton came back with a blue basket and said, ‘I got blue.’ then came Caden, Wee Ren, Caleb, Amanda and followed by the rest of the children. Most of the children were able to recognize the numerals 1 to 4 but took a longer time to count the number rods 1 to four.

Language:
Sandpaper letter ‘e’ was given to the children to feel and trace. Letter sound ‘e’ as in elephant, escalator, eskimo, elk, egg and Edric. The children giggled when they heard ‘e’ as in Edric and Edric smiled and said, “ e, e, Edric.” The children were given a hard boiled egg each to shell. Some returned the eggs to the teacher claiming that they couldn’t do it. After some encouragement, the children were shown how to hit the eggs on the plate to crack the shell, some roll it in their hands and some mashed the eggs. It was messy but they had fun.

This week we begin to learn about fruits. The children were introduced to the names of some fruits. Then, each of them were given some “fruit” puzzles to solve.

Happy Birthday Caden & Caleb! Last Friday we celebrated Caden’s & Caleb’s 3rd birthday with their parents and Grandmother. All the children loved the “Thomas” cake.
