School update 25-29 May

We introduced the letter sound ‘u’ as in umbrella

The children were shown how to open an umbrella and hold it upright. They were then given an umbrella to hold. Although the umbrella was too big for the little fingers, they soon found out that they could spin it while holding it above their heads. Every one started spinning it with joy. Some held it like a ‘professional’.

We introduced the shape oval. The children were asked to identify objects that were oval in the classroom. To enhance the learning of this shape, the children were each given an egg to shell and ‘ovoid’ was introduced at the same time. The teachers deliberately not show them how to shell it. We wanted to observe their reactions and their candid responses. As expected of 2 year olds, they began hitting the eggs on the table, some tried to ‘dig’ through the shell with their index fingers and others just simply smashed it flat.

We are still visiting Vietnam this term, The children tried making Vietnamese spring roll. Look at Dylan and Markus, the Vietnamese spring roll ‘chef’, so engrossed and not to be left out, Ryan the ‘food critic’.

The children were also given the opportunity to be dressed in Vietnamese costume too. Look at the lovely Vietnamese ‘couple’!
